A “slushpile” is a term used in the publishing business to describe the hundreds (probably thousands) of manuscripts and stories that are submitted to editors with hopes of being published. I first heard the term in college, while reading one of Ben Bova's books and it always stuck with me. I’m borrowing it here because a similar situation is going on in my mind, where the editor - my brain you could say - has a pile of ideas, anecdotes, thumbnails - not real ones, and many other stacks of manila folders that hold material of which the word "slush" applies.
Note on execution:
Progress in animation tools and software is steadfast. My philosophy is better tools will always come along but the artist must develop and hone their craft. It is an endless, paradoxical struggle to do so. A great draftsman once said that for every one hour of theory, you should apply fifty hours of practice. I may have digressed. For the slush, I will be using Adobe and ToonBoom alongside pencil, pen & ink sketching.
